Wish List: Festival Essentials For Him

As festival-goers flock to fields and farms across the country, Daniel Flay reveals his festival grooming must-haves.

Compared to the ultra-cool and uber-trendy Coachella crowd, our American cousins sure do give us a run for our money in the festival grooming stakes. But hey, it takes a lot of time and effort to look this dishevelled – just ask Harry Styles!

Although we Brits might not be blessed with perfectly quaffed hair and glorious sunshine, we still want to look (and smell) our best. So with that in mind, we've put together a selection of our favourite fuss-free products for effective festival grooming.

Remaining your usual stylish self might seem like a near impossible task especially when you’re stuck in the mud, but as long you take a practical approach to your festival grooming routine, and pack the right products, there’s really no need to panic.

1. Bluebeards Revenge Roll On Deodorant - £5.00  (BUY HERE)

When you’re up all night and sleeping on the move all day, you need to make sure that you've got the best coverage possible – especially if your idea of sprucing up at a festival is a naked jig in the rain. Dubbed the “ultimate deodorant for men” this roll-on antiperspirant helps to neutralise the bacteria caused by body odour. Its compact design makes it easy to transport, so no matter how hard you party, you won’t have to worry about sweat patches or smelling like a portaloo.

2. Hawaiian Tropic Protective Sun Lotion SPF 30 - £12.29 (BUY HERE)

It goes without saying that you should always wear protection…

3. Sparkle Toothy Tabs - £2.50 (BUY HERE)

If you’d rather spend your time queuing for the bar instead of the bathroom, invest in pack of Sparkle Toothy Tabs from LUSH. These powerful little tablets are perfect for freshening up on the move. Simply nibble between front teeth to break up the tab and start brushing – no water, no fuss!

4. Fudge Urban Electrik Blue Colour Hair Chalk - £6.29 (BUY HERE)

If you’re not brave enough to dye your do but fancy embracing a new hue this festival season, hair chalk is a really easy way to shake-up your look. Festivals are the perfect time to embrace your wild side and take a more playful approach to your appearance, so don’t be afraid to take a risk or two.

5. Fudge Urban Sea Salt - £4.66 (BUY HERE)

Sea salt spray is a must-have for effortlessly-cool festival hair. This lightweight and re-workable product by Fudge Urban is ideal for low-maintenance festival styling. It can either be used as a mattifying base or a natural looking alternative to thick and heavy products, which are notoriously hard to wash out.

6. Red American Flag Bandana - £5.00 (BUY HERE)

A bandana is the ultimate rock and roll accessory. Style out your unwashed hair and untameable cowlick with this Kurt Cobaine classic.

7. Toni&Guy Styling Fibre - £6.99 (BUY HERE)

Picking a remoldable hair product with a light hold is essential for long weekends in the great outdoors. To avoid a greasy looking barnet, pick a product with a matte finish that isn't designed to keep your hair locked in one particular style. Remember it’s easier to gradually apply more product across the weekend rather than add it all at once.

8. Kellogg's Retro Frosties Lip Balm - £3.00 (BUY HERE)

This lip balm looks and tastes grrr-eat! Late nights, excessive drinking and extreme weather conditions can all take their toll on your lips, so it’s really important to take care of them. Not only is this Retro Frosties Lip Balm a lot of fun, but its matte finish means that it’ll never look like you’re wearing women's lip gloss – result!

9. TIGI Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo - £8.05 (BUY HERE)

Unless you’re willing to wait in line all day, washing your hair at a festival is almost as rare as 4G and clean undies. Thankfully this handy spray is the next best thing. Dry Shampoo is designed to soak up any excess dirt and grease, leaving your hair looking clean and fresh, even if you might not feel it!

10. Hanz de Fuko Quicksand - £16.00 (BUY HERE)

Hanz De Fuko Quicksand strikes the balance perfectly between practicality and style. This fantastic product combines styling wax with dry shampoo to seamlessly create sculpted styles that stay put all day with zero shine.

11. Kalamazoo Beard And Facial Wash - £6.50 (BUY HERE)

Sun exposure, sleep deprivation, excess alcohol and unhealthy food are just some of the things that your skin is up against during a festival, so it’s vital that you invest in an effective facial scrub. This creamy wash for furry faces from Lush is full of enzymes that cleanse the skin and zap away dirt. After just one use you’ll be left with a soft, sweet-smelling beard that you just can’t help but stroke.

12. Sorry Mom Tattoo Sunscreen - £12.99 (BUY HERE)

You should never under estimate the importance of a good sunscreen, especially when it comes to tattoos. This ingenious SPF prevents your body art from fading and helps to support long-term tattoo maintenance.

13. Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Travel Towelettes - £1.79 (BUY HERE)

If you can’t wash it, wipe it! From your mitts to your pits, face wipes are the closest thing that you’re going to get to a shower - so stock up.
