Sometimes I like to fantasise about being a Mayfair-dwelling lady who lunches, complete with Hermes Kelly and bouncy blowdry. There’s still £6000 standing between Kelly and I, but the gorgeously glossy hair is now a reality, thanks to Jo Hansford.
Nestled on South Audley Street in London’s prestigious
Mayfair, the illustrious salon has been coiffing the locks of well-heeled women
for 22 years, establishing itself as the destination for ultra-glamorous hair.
Now, Jo Hansford’s senior styling team has launched The London Blowout – their
signature smooth blowdry, defined by movement and body for a totally effortless
finish.
The Jo Hansford experience begins long before you enter the
box plant-lined doors. The hair swishes and confident trots of the salon’s exiting
customers was enough of an advert to tempt me inside, where the team had
invited me to review The London Blowout for The Little Beauty Guide.
It’s a Thursday evening and the salon is abuzz. After having
my hair washed with the salon’s delicious-smelling products, I receive a head
massage so heavenly it almost sends me to sleep. I wander, in a meditative
state, over to the chair, where stylist Michaela begins her magic on my limp,
city-assaulted locks. I’ve just had a long bob cut and I’m concerned that rollers
may render me more Barbara Windsor than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (my
hairspiration). Luckily, Michaela has a way with a curling wand, and after
blowdrying some body into my lacklustre mop, she twizzles and twirls her way to
polished perfection.
After taking some requisite selfies in the loo, I leave the
salon to re-join South Audley Street’s glossy posse. This time, with a little
extra swish.
