Battle of the Lashes: The Drugstore Edit
Mascaras are one product we are forever trying and buying. The hunt for longer, fuller and more defined lashes is a journey we don't see ending any time soon. With drugstore brands being top of their mascara game with new releases, technologies and old faithfuls, we thought we'd put a few favourites to the test.
Maybelline Great Lash £4.99 [BUY HERE]
This mascara is pretty well established and has been around a fairly long time. Its got a great black colour and leaves your lashes looking silky smooth. Clumping is minimal and it sits put well - which is why it can often be found in MUAs kits.
The only downside is the brush. Brushes have come a long way since this one was released, and its old fashion bristles just don't cut it against some of the others.
Score: 3.5 out of 5
Max Factor False Lash Effect £10.99 [BUY HERE]
This iconic mascara is top of its false lash effect game, and it's our favourite of the bunch. It really does make your lashes longer, fuller and gives you the illusion of fake lashes.
The brush is fat and full of lash hugging silicone bristles that divide and truly conquer. Giving you a fan of beautifully exaggerated lashes. You can also build this one up for more drama - if that's how you like it.
Score: 5 out of 5
L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes £10.99 [BUY HERE]
L'Oreal have done a great job with this mascara, it really gives your lashes great volume. Its niftily designed pot means that no excess formula is on your wand - meaning there is less chance of unsightly clumping.
For us, it gave a great boost to natural lashes and it came a very close second. It was bold and black in colour, and was amongst our favourites.
Score: 4.5 out of 5
Rimmel Wonderfull £7.99 [BUY HERE]
Unfortunately for Rimmel, this one scored lowest of the lot. Although it boasts great ingredients to help condition your lashes, it just didn't pack the volume punch the others offered.
The wand was a little flimsy, so it was harder to coat all the lashes. It did however, give the most natural look and left lashes glossy and black.
Score: 3 out of 5

ReplyDeleteLove a good drugstore mascara review. This is one place where I don't think you need to spend a ton of money for a product to be superior!
You are so right Amanda! There are some top drugstore products out there, I think Cover Girl do some fab ones! Maybe we should get you to do one for us on US brands? X x x
