What's in My Make-up Bag

Today we’ve been chatting to the stylish Amie from Credit Crunch Chic to find out what’s inside her make-up bag.

Amie started Credit Crunch Chic back in 2009, when the recession was in full swing. She uses her little space on the internet to share her love of fashion, beauty and the occasional dash of interiors and lifestyle.  If you’re a regular reader of Amie’s blog, you’ll know she does some fabulous beauty features, including her monthly empties and some really great reviews (you can visit Credit Crunch Chic here)

So, over to Amie, here's what's inside her make-up bag...

My makeup bag: I decided to shoot my 'everyday' makeup bag, the one that would be in my handbag that I take to work or out and about daily. I have streamlined this over many years to create a capsule selection of products I use regularly; I used to carry around armfuls of makeup I rarely actually used and it would weigh a ton! So I have a carefully edited selection of products that help to maintain my look throughout the day.

The actual makeup bag itself is a small clutch purse from Whistles. The zip top and slim design means it fits easily into my handbag and it isn't too large, ensuring I can't overfill it! This is also a great travel makeup bag, as again, I try to carefully select products I know I'll use, rather than taking the contents of my bathroom cabinet just in case I want to try out that blusher I've never used before!

Umberto Giannini Compact Mirror and Comb: A mirror is a makeup bag essential; this is a great size and has a magnifying mirror as well as a regular one. I rely on a comb as I have a fringe, and as any girl with a fringe knows, a gust of wind the wrong way can end up leaving you looking like Jon Bon Jovi circa 1989, so it's a must have!

Versace Vanitas Miniature Perfume: Perfume miniatures are fantastic for your handbag as no one wants to cart a massive bottle about. I usually just refresh my perfume at lunchtime or if I am heading out after work.

Nails Inc Miniature Polish in Colville Mews: Chipped nails are a pet peeve of mine, so I try to carry a mini polish with me for any touch ups. This nude shade is lovely for the summer; it's so subtle and pretty and takes up barely any space in the bag!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper: A red lip is a signature look of mine, and this provides full matte coverage that doesn't bleed or flake. One application in the morning takes me through until lunch, and then I'll reapply after eating.

Seventeen Phwoar Paint Under Eye Concealer: I don't really need to carry around foundations or powders in my day to day kit but this small pot of concealer is a fabulous find. Inexpensive but effective, it blends away dark circles with ease and it also doubles up as a concealer for any blemishes. It even has a mirror in the lid!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream: one of my more expensive products but it has so many uses, I wouldn't be without it. A friend introduced it to me years ago and I've always had a tube to hand since. It's great for soothing chapped lips or flaky skin, as a highlighter to give a dewy finish, as an all-around wonder-balm and you can even use it to correct makeup errors. I love this product and it's definitely a must have component in my makeup bag.

Aveeno Hand Cream with Colloidal Oatmeal: Hand cream is an essential item for me as my hands suffer from dryness and can quickly look chapped and red if I don't take care of them! This Aveeno hand cream has been a repurchase for me; it's a very light and non-greasy product which absorbs quickly with no residue, and even last through a hand wash!
